Jake Brown, Farm Manager at Tater Farms, Hastings, FL
When the JOb gets complicated, sabanto delivers.
At Tater Farms in Hastings, Florida, keeping thousands of acres of grass under control takes time, people, and equipment that can keep up. For Farm Manager Jake Brown, Sabanto’s autonomous technology has become a valuable part of that equation, not just for the work it gets done, but for the support behind it.
Tater Farms operates three Sabanto-equipped tractors: Tater Salad, Tater Tot, & Tater Skin (that’s a whole lotta Tater!) across over 2,000 acres, helping the team manage a demanding mowing schedule while freeing operators to focus on other essential farm responsibilities. With labor availability a constant challenge, the ability to monitor and manage equipment remotely has made a meaningful difference.
“I tell people it’s a no-brainer,” Brown says when asked whether he recommends Sabanto. “People call and ask if it works, if I like it, and if it’s worth the money. I tell them YES!”
Real Farms Have Real Challenges. We Help Solve Them.
Not every field is designed for autonomy right out of the gate. At Tater Farms, water furrows and drainage pipes created a unique challenge. The crossings were too narrow for the farm’s wide mowing decks to pass through without adjusting the equipment.
Rather than let that obstacle stand in the way, Sabanto team members Cory Davis and Jason Lambert headed down to Florida to help find a solution. That solution is now referred to as ‘record-and-playback’, a feature that is now available to all users in vMC (vehicle mission control, Sabanto’s online interface). The system was programmed to briefly lift the mower decks during turns and lower them again afterward, allowing the operation to navigate the crossings more effectively.
It’s a practical example of what makes customer support matter: understanding the operation, working through the challenge, and finding a solution that fits the way the farm actually works.
Technology That Works for the People Doing the Work
For Brown, the value of Sabanto extends beyond the tractor. The mobile-friendly interface lets him check equipment locations, monitor fuel levels, adjust mowing widths and angles, and pause operations remotely, all from his phone.
That visibility helps the team manage work across multiple locations without having to sit in the tractor or constantly check on each machine in person. Brown also varies mowing angles to help prevent repeated passes over the same ground, while adjusting routes around irrigation pivots and harvested areas.
Just as importantly, the technology supports his existing workforce. When autonomous equipment was introduced, Brown made it clear that the goal wasn’t to replace employees. It was to help the team keep up with an overwhelming workload and make better use of its time.
Support That Goes Beyond the Sale.
Agriculture rarely runs exactly as planned, and even well-maintained equipment can experience downtime. Tater Farms takes a proactive approach to maintenance, with a full-time mechanic helping keep tractors and mowers in working condition. When technical questions or equipment issues arise, having responsive people to contact matters.
Brown praised the support he has received from the teams at Sabanto and dealer partner Ag Technologies. Their communication and willingness to help troubleshoot challenges have been an important part of the experience.
For Sabanto, that feedback reinforces a simple principle: autonomy is about more than putting technology in the field. It’s about building partnerships to put technology to work successfully.
A Return on Investment and Room to Grow.
Brown says the investment in Sabanto has paid off through increased efficiency and fewer hours spent with operators behind the wheel. The team has also explored other applications, including seeding and harrowing, with potential opportunities for additional operations in the future.
For Brown, the recommendation comes down to results, usability, and knowing there’s a team ready to help when challenges arise.
At Sabanto, customer success means more than delivering autonomous technology. It means working alongside customers and dealers to solve real problems, support their teams, and help them get more out of every acre.
Thank you to Jake Brown and the Tater Farms team for putting Sabanto to work and sharing their experience.
