Since joining Sabanto in May 2023, Anas Khan has helped develop some of the technology that makes autonomous farming safer, smarter, and more scalable.
Originally from India, Anas came to the United States to earn his master’s degree in engineering from Clemson University. His career began in the aviation sector with autonomous freight movement systems, where he worked with radar and lidar systems before bringing his expertise to agricultural robotics software development with Sabanto.
“Blending my interests in software and automotive technology, it was an easy transition into autonomous vehicles,” said Anas.
Despite having little firsthand experience with farming when he joined the team, Anas’s curiosity and eagerness to learn have helped him quickly gain agricultural knowledge. Today, he regularly participates in field testing and has even driven a tractor himself at one of Sabanto’s test farms.
As a Robotics Software Engineer, Anas works on the software that powers autonomous operations, including navigation, system communications, and software updates. He developed Sabanto’s live video feature, which allows remote operators to see real-time field conditions, enhancing safety and operational awareness. He also led development of the aggravator feature, which enables autonomous control of implements across multiple equipment platforms.
Anas describes the culture at Sabanto as fast-paced and hands-on, encouraging diverse skill sets and open feedback.
With Sabanto’s fleet continuing to grow, Anas is focused on creating automated diagnostic tools that help support teams resolve issues more efficiently and keep customers running smoothly.
In his free time Anas enjoys traveling from New York City to the Rocky Mountains and seeing all this country has to offer.
Whether he’s testing new technology in the field or developing the next generation of autonomy features, Anas’s combination of technical expertise and continuous learning helps drive innovation across the Sabanto fleet.
