Introduction

Autonomous equipment has the potential to transform agriculture, but its success depends on more than just advanced technology. Careful preparation, thorough testing, and close collaboration are key to ensuring reliable performance in real-world conditions. Before launching their autonomous system in the field, Sabanto collaborated closely with Yirsa Farms to validate every aspect of the setup and ensure a seamless transition to autonomous operations.

System Calibration

Before heading into the field, Sabanto worked closely with Yirsa Farms to carefully test and validate every part of the autonomous system. The process began with standard calibration of the 5115M tractor to establish a reliable foundation.

Navigation Testing

Next, the team turned its focus to field movement and navigation. They rehearsed end-of-row turn sequences to help the tractor exit and re-enter passes with minimal overlap. This required planning for sufficient headland space and refining settings to match the diverse Montana terrain.

Sensor & Flow Checks

Sensors were tested under blocked and unblocked conditions to ensure reliable performance. The liquid fertilizer system was closely monitored to confirm accurate injection rates. A flow meter, combined with custom pump logic, controlled precise start/stop timing to maintain stable pressure and flow.

Field-Ready Confidence

By the time fieldwork began, Yirsa Farms had more than just an autonomous tractor. They had a fully tested, field-ready system. Every component had been tested in real-world conditions, giving the team full confidence in the technology before going live.
