Sabanto Introduces Autonomy to Young Social Media Star
It’s not every day that you get to meet a viral social media ag influencer who just happens to be 8 years old. Jackson, better known as @justajacksonthing on TikTok and Instagram, has used his viral following to champion for agriculture and farming and show the world his undeniable passion for tractors and farm equipment.
In late June, Sabanto team members made a special trip to a small town in northeast Indiana hauling a John Deere 5090E retrofit with a Sabanto Steward™ kit. Jackson is well known for his expansive knowledge and love of vintage tractors, but we introduced him to our modern technology on a new tractor.
Cory Spaetti, Sabanto COO, gave Jackson a walk around tour of the tractor, pointing out the hardware components and how they work on our system. After that, he showed Jackson how to use our software to generate a mission for the tractor. Jackson was a quick study and picked up how to use the technology right away, while also quizzing our tractor experts with plenty of questions.
It’s like a second set of hands for a farmer.
“It’s like a second set of hands for a farmer,” Jackson noted after learning how our autonomy works.
At 8 years old, Jackson became the youngest Sabanto user to deploy an autonomous tractor. Using an iPad, Jackson remotely started the tractor’s ignition. Shortly after, he pushed the play button on the iPad screen to set the tractor in motion, allowing it to follow the path plan the software generated and work the mission he created.
Jackson watched in awe as he saw the John Deere tractor operate without a driver for the very first time right there on his family’s farm.
I think what this autonomy company is doing is really going to help farmers out there who just can’t get help.
Wise beyond his years, Jackson explained, “I think what this autonomy company is doing is really going to help farmers out there who just can’t get help.”
After meeting Jackson, we know this for certain: he knows tractors inside and out and wants to share his passion for farming with other people. Jackson hopes to continue farming his family’s land some day. We look forward to following along with Jackson as he continues to make his mark on the agriculture community.
We’d love to have you join our monthly newsletter list.
